A July 5 ASCAP Song Source in Nashville is an opportunity for ASCAP members to receive feedback on one of their songs from ASCAP staff and music industry professionals. The Alliance For Community Media Regional Conference, opening July 5 in Washington, DC, addresses Emerging Media, Media & Telecom Public Policy, Collaborations, Outreach & Marketing, Regulatory and other areas. A legal clinic for film financing teaches the strategies and pitfalls to avoid in raising and managing money for your documentary or feature film takes place in New York on July 6. The 48 Hour Film Project in which teams write, shoot, edit and score original music — all in just 48 hours hosts an event in Seattle, July 7-8, with other cities to follow. ASCAP's Indie Night School series presents a conference on July 12 with a group of music professionals to field questions from the Los Angeles independent music community. Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Adweek and others present "What Teens Want East" July 13 in New York. At the Mobile Game Conference on July 13 & 14 in Bellevue, areas under exploration are "Design, Construction and Potential". Galway Film Centre in association with FAS Screen Training Ireland presents an Actors Masterclass with Academy Award winner Kathy Bates, July 14 in Dublin. A Writers Boot Camp session in Santa Monica on July 15 hosts a panel on screenwriting apart from the usual seminar sessions. An "NAB Executive Development Seminar for Radio Broadcasters" will review strategy and how to manage the strategic planning process; how the big picture and corporate numbers affect the individual station budget, and other matters, when it meets July 15-18 in Washington, DC. The Grammy Foundation hosts an interactive music camp for teens aged 15-19 in Washington DC, from July 15-31. At the panel, "Music For The Screen: Making Money From Film and Television Music" NARIP spokespersons discuss opportunities to make money from film and TV music, July 19 in North Hollywood. Maverick Angels host an investment meeting where entrepreneurs can present their companies to investors, followed by discussion, at Sherwood Country Club Golf House in Thousand Oaks. The Acapulco Black Film Festival provides a "retreat like atmosphere" when it runs July 19-23 in Miami Beach, while featuring screenings, workshops, HBO sponsored competitions, panels and parties. The Henry Mancini Free Summer Music Festival gets underway July 21 till August 13 in Los Angeles, and presents symphonic jazz, film music and newly commissioned works. Laker great Earvin "Magic" Johnson delivers the keynote address at the Bodog.com Marketing Conference, focused on online gaming and digital entertainment, taking place in Las Vegas from July 23-25. A two day NATPE Producers Boot Camp in West Hollywood starting July 27 stresses the newest trends and hands-on how-tos featuring the latest platforms and genres. At a "My First Film" panel on July 29 in New York, panelist discuss what they did right, what they did wrong, and what they learned through the filmmaking process.
